MEET THE OTHER TEAM MEMBERS

Chinloo Lama (Earthwatch Staff and Volunteer)
Chinloo LamaChinloo is one of the Web Content Managers at Earthwatch Institute. She is in charged of the Classroom Earth Series of case studies and she works closely with the education department to better service the Earthwatch teacher fellows. Chinloo will be taking the opportunity to experience Live from the Field first hand. It will be her first time working as a volunteer on an Earthwatch expedition and as a technology support for the team of teachers from the field. She looks forward to learning as much as she can on supporting teacher fellows as well as conserving the Pantanal!

Ellen Wang
Principal Investigator of the Earthwatch Brazil: Amphibians and Reptiles project

Ellen WangEllen Wang brings a considerable amount of field biology experience to the project. She is the Pantanal CRI's acting Field Director. Her work on the feeding habits of neotropical cats has recently been published in International Scientific Publications. Wang has worked in herpetology since 2001 and possesses a wide range of knowledge about the Pantanal's vertebrates, which she shares with much enthusiasm. Education: Master's of Zoology at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Campus de Rio Claro. Doctoral candidate at the Programa de Pós-graduação em Ecologia, UFMS, Brazil.

Manoel Comes Muanis
Co-Principal Investigator
Manoel MuanisAn M.Sc. candidate in Zoology at the National Museum/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He received his B.A. in Biology from UFRJ in 2004. Muanis is very experienced in the ecology and biology of Neotropical and giant otters, having spent six years studying Neotropical otters in Rio de Janeiro state and four years studying giant and Neotropical otters in the Pantanal. He conducted his B.A. thesis research on the diets of otters in the Pantanal and for his M.Sc. theses he is studying the effects of habitat structure on Pantanal otters. Muanis will mainly be responsible for collecting environmental measures that will be used for his thesis. He is proficient in Portuguese and English.
